First heard of the band Runaway Train from a young man (Chris) we had to sing in our mess. I had a meeting with Gary & Chris and it was arranged for the Band to come and play in the Army Headquarters Warrant Officers and Sergeants Mess.
From the moment they arrived they were very professional and were given the option of setting up on the stage or playing from the floor in the bar. As it was a very small intimate gathering they decided to play in the bar and delivered what can only be described as an outstanding set of songs and music over two different sets within the time. Their mix of music and songs was superb and from the moment they starting playing the dance floor had people on it and this continued throughout the night. As the night came to an end they were asked for more and the band duly obliged with more great songs and im pretty sure that if we didn’t have to close the bar could have gone on for a lot longer. A thoroughly enjoyable evening from this band and one we will most certainly have to play in our mess again.
I wish them all the best for the future and im pretty sure it wont be long before they are playing in bigger venues to a lot bigger crowds and getting the full recognition they most certainly deserve.
